The next morning, Nick and I woke up very early (4AM!) to head to the hospital.
(I am not sure why we can't get a normal picture of Nick ... but this really is the best we could do.)
Maddie's baby sister left her a few gift.
After a long wait, Evelyn Mae Hamilton arrived at 7:39 on the morning of October 17th. She weighed 7lbs 5oz and was 20.75in long. She is healthy and happy and just perfect.
(The hat and the forehead thermometer are awesome ... I may need to photoshop those out!)
After a little quiet time with Evie, Maddie came in to meet her baby sister. She could not have been more excited. She just loved her right away. I love this picture.
We had lots of snuggles from everyone.
We wanted Maddie to have as normal a day as possible (and give mommy a little time to rest) so Maddie went to school. She wore her new Big Sister shirt and showed her baby sister to her class on Nana's iPad (pretty cool use of technology). This may be one of my most favorite pictures ever.
Daddy picked Maddie up after school and we all just hung out together.
In true St Louis style, Evelyn watched her first Cardinals game during her first few hours of life. It was the NLCS to boot! Pretty good timing Evie!
Sweet video of Maddie playing with Evelyn.
More hanging out. Tough life really.
Maddie visited every day. She loved walking Evelyn up and down the hallway.
Goof ball.
More snuggles
Daddy snapped this shot. It appears that the baby is crying and I am sleeping through it somehow.
Maddie loved coming to visit. On Friday, she decided that hospitals were awesome. She set herself up in my bed (that you could make move up and down), had a little breakfast and watched cartoons. It was perfect if you asked her.
On Friday night, Maddie's school had a Halloween party. Maddie put on her BEAUTIFUL bride costume and headed to school with Daddy. He was having visions of a not too distant future bride. Maddie had a lot of fun playing with friends and making Halloween crafts.
A few more hanging out pictures.
Maddie thought the fact that there were popsicles and ice cream in a freezer just down the hall was the greatest thing ever! We split a red popsicle. Mmm ...
Mommy was going stir crazy so we went home a day early. We were all feeling fine and I think we were all ready to get home.
We loaded up both beautiful girls and headed home on a perfect fall day.
We all settled in quickly.
This video is HYSTERICAL! Maddie and I were trying to wake Evie ... and well ... she told us. Listen well at the end.
Relaxing with Daddy.
