Cannon Beach

We took a day trip out to Cannon Beach today.  I was not expecting it to be so beachy.  I thought the Oregon coast was rocky.  It was beautiful!

Daddy saw another parent with their child on their back and decided Evelyn would prefer being a backpack (as opposed to the front carry version).  She loved it.  She could see a lot more that way.

Daddy and his girls.  So sweet.

When Maddie saw the beach, she got so excited!  She couldn't wait to get down there and play in the sand and water.

After a great lunch and some delicious candy (there are a BUNCH of candy shops here), we headed down to the beach.  This was Evelyn's first trip to the beach.  We were pretty sure she was going to LOVE the sand.  We had no idea how much ...

She could not get enough of the sand.  She kicked it, picked it up, threw it, tasted it, and loved crawling through it (see video at the end ... she looked like a little bulldozer).

Maddie had so much fun in the sand and water.  The water was COOOOOOOOLD!!!  Even Nick called it freezing so you know it was cold.  Maddie said it was cold but didn't care.  She played in it all afternoon. (while walking down the beach with Nick, she wasn't paying attention to the water and a big wave came and dumped her in ... and she was fine!  Totally soaked but happy.  Crazy kid)

The sun came out but Evelyn did not like her hat.

I took Evelyn to the ocean to put her feet in the Pacific and she LOVED the water.  She was jumping in my arms trying to get in the water (see video).  What she really wanted me to do was put her down in the water but I could not do that.  It was WAY too cold.  This is her face after I have taken her out ... she wanted to stay in all day like her sister.

I took her back for one more dip.  She just loved it.

Cannon Beach is beautiful.  It was only 1 1/2 hours away from Portland.  It is an easy drive and totally worth the trip.  Donna - you were right!  This is the place to go!
