August (mostly)

Our friends are selling their house and asked if they could park their hybrid Escalade in our garage. The girls were happy to help out! :)

Mommy celebrated her 27th birthday with a delicious (and slightly over toppinged) ice cream cake designed by Maddy (Nick actually helped restrain her a bit ... seriously).

At WoW camp (girl scout camp - West of the Willamette) one day was crazy hair day. We made Maddy a cupcake! :)

Ready for another day of camp!

So it was time for us to start looking for a new dog baby to join our family. We went to go look at one dog but it had already been adopted. As we talked a little we saw these sweet sisters and eventually fell in love. We adopted both girls and took them home. One of them was super skinny and I kept calling her Skinny Minnie so we named her Minnie. Nick, trying to be funny, named the other Maxie. The top picture is Maxie.

Both girls were super sweet but Maxie loved sitting with the girls in the grass.

These poor babies were exhausted and frightened. They loved staying in their crate (which is kind of sad but they seemed happy in there). 

This is Minnie - she had to be loved on a lot. She is learning to love cuddles.

Maddy went to cheer camp on Saturday and had a great time!

We just keep finding more veggies!

I love summer peaches! These ones are ENORMOUS! Nick picked up a whole crate of them at the farmers market!

My sweet mother's day garden is really blooming! 

Amy, Manish, Alec and Peter came in town for a week of fun!!! It was so much fun having them in town! Evelyn and Peter jumped in the big bath together!

The Mikey Mouse train was hours of fun!

We were really luck with the weather. Not too hot, not too cold and nice and sunny. We had so much fun at the park!

We went for a little hike through Tryon Creek and saw lots of fun things!

The zoo was a lot of fun!! Another beautiful day filled with cousin fun!

These two have been running on all cylinders for days. It was time to crash!

Amy and I had a sisters night out. We went for a wonderful dinner at one of my favorite places that is closing at the end of the summer. Very sad. :(

We had to go to Oaks Park for some fun rides!! They did it all!!! (this picture where all four of them somehow just look like they are sitting there happy is actually mid spin - I don't know how they look so happy and not flying around!!)

A trip to PDX would not be complete without a trip to Salt and Straw. It was a farmer's market theme this month. 

I can't remember all the flavors we got in our flights but a couple were lavender honey (the purple one), chocolate gooey brownie, parsnip something, mint chocolate, carrot cake, zucchini something, some strawberry balsamic something ... basically deliciousness all in all! This was our last night together in PDX. Thanks so much for coming out! It was a wonderful trip!!

Soccer season started before school did this year! This year Maddy is now on a much bigger field and they have goalies. Maddy played goalie for the first half in the first game and loved it.

And then passed out later that afternoon. The field is a lot bigger, I guess.

Our friend had an end of summer karaoke competition and guess who won the whole thing! She was super proud of herself (although she predicted that she would win it all before we even go there ... LOL!)

So long story short - we decided to adopt one of the babies out to another family. Long long story full of tears. In the end, we kept Miss Maxie (she is now officially Maxime but goes by Max). After we took her cone off after she was spayed one ear stayed up! Hysterical!! 

The first day of school came quickly! Off to third grade we go!!

We needed some ice cream after that first day. It sounds like it was a great start to the year!

Evelyn has started soccer at school. She is very excited! Here she is showing off her muscles :)

Last regular season Thorns game! It was VERY stressful! We Won! Off to the finals we go!

So the Thorns went to the playoffs and Nick organized to get Maddy's soccer team down on the field to watch warm ups. The girls LOVED it!! (the Thorns lost this game but it was another exciting match!!)
