January - Snow, Nana Visits & Basketball

Here is one big January update!
Evelyn is loving her new school. She will never love her uniform but she has learned to rock loud pants and fancy hair. :)

I went looking for shoes. Maddy found some that fit perfectly!

So Portland got some snow this year. They were predicting 4-6 inches and we were all freaking out. As we went to bed it started to snow. Nick said "it isn't now unless it covers the grass." Well - we got snow! We ended up getting over a foot of snow! Luckily Nana flew in a day early and was able to make it for a snow filled visit!

What we woke up to ...

We put on our snow outfits and went out for some fun!
Snowman ...

Snow cones ...

Snow shoveling ...

Total snow confusion ...

Snow angels ...

Tah dah!

What happens when you throw a snowball at the guy shoveling the snow. Lesson learned.

They closed I-5 so the 18 wheelers tried to get through on our road. We had several stacked up and one for days and days and days just sitting there. They ended up closing our road down completely which was awesome!

We live on a pretty steep hill so it became a perfect sledding hill! First thing we had to do, though, was pack down the snow. It was so fluffy we couldn't even sled down it without getting stuck.

We broke our plastic sled so ...

We busted out our Hawaiian turtle! Thanks Donna!! Not exactly how we thought we would use it but hey! It was perfect for the little ones!

Our backyard looked beautiful with all the snow

Taking a break and warming up with some Uno (they played a million times)

Nana taught Maddy how to use the sewing machine. They made me new pot holders out of an old pair of jeans! Awesome!!

The view from our bathroom window - like a painting

The next day the sun came out so we played a little more

Evelyn filled her days inside with dressing up like all the princesses ...

Nana and Elsa played spot it - a light change from Uno

We finally made it out of the house and went and saw Moana. It helped us imagine being warm.

The next night was Nana's last night so we went out for a delicious dinner and celebrated her birthday! Happy birthday Nana!

Eventually the snow started to melt. Our snowman melted away slowly.

The roads eventually came back (although we had to shovel most of it!)

Basketball started up and Maddy loved playing!

Here are just a couple photos from Evelyn's show (other post)

School started back up again after all the snow. Evelyn is doing really well and learning a lot.

Dressing up her uniform continues ...
