08/08/08

Well, the most important day of the year, 08/08/08 arrived. The world celebrated my birthday by assembling the world's greatest athletes and having a huge celebration in China. There were fireworks and cheering. What a way to celebrate!

Here in St. Louis, we had a celebration too.

I got dressed up in my new blue shirt and tight new jeans and Nick took me out to a beautiful dinner at The Crossing in Clayton. It was delicious! It was a wonderfully sweet dinner and a perfect birthday. I was so impressed that he planned to have Aunt Debbie come over and babysit. Little did I know, Nick had more planned.

When we came home, Debbie and Sam were standing in the living room without Maddie. They told me she was sleeping. Then they told me she was in the dining room ... it was all very confusing. I went into the dining room to see what Maddie was up to and found a bunch of friends yelling "surprise!" I cried, of course. It was so special.

Nick found a great specialty cake place in the ghetto to make a scrabble cake ... it was so dorky and wonderful!

We had a great little party! Maddie and Tyler Kuo helped me blow out the 8 candles on my birthday cake (I did not need to see what 28 candles looked like!!).

Maddie and her BFF Claudia hung out. Claudia showed her how to give a high five!

Claudia and daddy had a big slice of birthday cake! Oh the things that happen when mommy is out of town!!

All in all, it was a perfect birthday! Thank you Nick. You are the best!
