On Friday, Maddie and I went to the zoo with some friends. She LOVED it! At first she kept looking at all the animals out of the corner of her eye. She was not sure about them or why there were so many. Then she would point at them and quietly tell me "meng." Eventually, it became a meng-fest! She loves birds and so it was a perfect trip! We saw flamingos, penguins (which freaked her out because they were so close ... she kept looking at me to make sure it was ok to be that close to them!), peacocks, tucans, and a bunch of other odd birds. We all decided that it is no surprise that she is not talking yet ... how can all those things that look so different be bird?! Since we call everything bird, she will just call everything "meng."
Here she is trying to con Charlene (left) and Emma (right) into buying her a stuffed animal.
Here they are looking at the flamingos. A few minutes later, a beautiful peacock walked right up to us ... Maddie could not understand it ... birds normally run/fly away from her!
Here is Maddie looking at Jimmy, one of the great apes. She did not call him a "meng." Maybe meng means bird?
On Saturday, Maddie had her swim class. This time, Daddy took her in the pool. She did a great job, again!
(I missed her jumping to daddy. She was so funny. He would put her on the side and before he could count up to three, she would fling herself in the water! Really funny! Also, you will notice that Princess Madeleine does not swim, she just lets her Daddy take her around the pool. Very little effort on her part. She does enjoy it, though!)
After class, we went to another first birthday party! Breyen turned 1 on the 6th and had a fun party at his house. Maddie found the toys ... and the air vent. She loves to stand or sit on the AC vents because they are so cool. We all know which parent she gets that from!
This is a photo taken by Maddie, our little arteeeest. She really did take this photo. I love it. We shall call it ... My Silly Daddy, an abstract piece by the great photographer, Madeleine Claire Hamilton, age 14 months. She must get her talent from her Teddy.
We went for a walk later that night, and Maddie ran around the park. It was a little humid out, and I noticed something in Maddie's hair ... could it be a bit of a curl?! (The pictures just look like her hair is a little messy, but there really was a curl at the bottom!)
