All day, Nick and I were asked "when are we going to the beach?" "When are we going to the beach?" Finally, it was time to get going and Maddie waited impatiently for the taxi. She stood at the door screaming "TAXI!! WHERE ARE YOU?! HURRY UP!" When it finally rounded the corner, she flipped out. It was really cute.
After a late flight in, we made it. We woke up the next morning and were ready for some fun. Maddie was SO excited to have Caroline to play with all week. She and Caroline sat down to read the beach book Maddie got her. Maddie loved being the big cousin.
We all put on our suits and got in the water. Maddie didn't skip a beat. She remembered how to relax in the pool like a beach princess.
We all got cleaned up for dinner. Maddie just loved holding Caroline on the couch. So sweet.
The next morning, Maddie and PopPop played a little on Maddie's iPad. How cute do they look?!

Caroline loved the water. Everyone had fun swimming with her!
Two cute cousins in their PJ's
Last year, Maddie got dunked by a wave and was done with the beach. This year, however, she LOVED the beach. She walked around "digging holes for creatures." I thought Nick must have given her that idea or those words ... but nope! That was all her. Maddie loved playing in the waves. She got braver and braver each time. It was a lot of fun watching her play.
I think her most favorite thing was to go out in the waves with Daddy. Nick was excited to have a friend to play in the water with and Maddie loved going out into the deep end with her Daddy. She would ride on his shoulders and they would play for a really long time. FYI - I sat on the beach relaxing ... it was WONDERFUL!!
Maddie also built sand castles and made fun shapes. It was a huge sand box!!

Just playing
We went and played mini golf to show off Maddie's skills. Tom and Suze were shocked to see Maddie get a hole in one on the first hole. They were wondering what kind of training we had been doing. It was pretty amazing! What fascinated Maddie more was the race track in the middle. I think Maddie is genetically programed for loving race cars. It was pretty funny how crazy she was about the cars.
Uncle Nick finally held Caroline on her last day.
We grilled out a lot. Daddy loved just sitting by the grill manning it up. Very relaxing for him, I think.
Maddie and Ms. Elizabeth played in the hot tub. They were very cute together.
On the last day, I insisted on getting a family picture on the beach. The only problem was that it was SUPER bright out! Here are a few cute Maddie pics.
Family photos ... next time there will be 4 of us!!
On the drive to the airport, Nick got his last Whataburger fix in. Mmmmmm!
We had a wonderful trip to the beach. Thank you PopPop and Suze! It was just perfect!!!
