When we left St. Louis, I was sad to think that the girls would never have snow come right to the front door. Yes, we could go to Mt. Hood and see the snow but there is something special about it coming right to you. Well ... I was wrong about that. It started to snow on Thursday at noon. I went and picked Maddie up from school and we were home until Tuesday morning! This town has no idea what to do with snow. We managed to fill the time, though, with some fun.
We brought the snow in for a little sensory table fun. It was perfect snow ball making snow so it shaped really well into castles for Maddie.
This was Evelyn's first real experience with snow. She was unsure at first and then loved it! She mostly used it as a stress ball.
Magnus has always loved snow. We made him some snow cookies. The girls had a blast giving them to him.
We got all bundled up on Friday morning and went looking for some fun!
Poor Evelyn had on a long sleeved onsie, fleece PJ's, a sweater, a fleece, fleece pants, and a coat. She also had on Maddie's first snow boots that were just a little too big. The poor thing kept tripping and then was unable to catch herself or get back up because she was so full of clothing. It was really cute seeing her as a little marshmallow. We decided we would do better using the stroller.
This is what our street looked like. We got about 3 inches of snow and this is what the roads looked like. There were a handful of plows and I am not sure what they did but it did not involve neighborhoods. It was fun off roading with the stroller, though!
Sweet pinkalicious girls.
We found some neighbors with a sled. The girls had so much fun!
We hooked the Wii up and Maddie did some driving.
Evelyn wasn't sure about the Wii so she went and got her driving toy.
Why not? They both had fun sweeping ... it gave me a few minutes of peace ... AND they cleaned the floors!
Evelyn is a shoe girl. She loves her tie shoes. They are one of the first things she points out to people when she sees them. She holds out her foot until they say something. Yep. We have another girlie girl.
It was some real snow!
They both wanted to come out and measure. PS: please notice what kind of PJ's Maddie is wearing. The child just doesn't feel the cold!
Still in the house we decided it was time to bust out the paints. Daddy was on call for a 24 hour shift so we thought that would be the perfect time to make his Valentine's Day presents. His new office is really great but it was all very brown. He needed a little color in there. What better way to add some color than some beautiful paintings by his little girls?! I forgot to take pictures of both paintings. I will get some and post them for you to see.

Then the ice came and we were really stuck inside.
EVERYONE was excited when Daddy came home. EEEVVVVEEERRRYYYYOOONNNEEE!
The next day we were still stuck inside. The snow was starting to melt but it was super slushy - and still not plowed, mind you. We sent Nick with my car just to be safe and so it was just us girls again. I decided to totally give up and we all went a little wild!
The carpet also turned into lava so ... there was that pretty major problem, too. :)
Then it was time to build a real fort (we had done one the day before using the table and chairs but it just was not quite right. I busted out a fitted sheet and we had some fun!
Besties
Then for some reason Maddie decided to put on her Mulan costume with her Rapunzel wig. Even Evelyn looks confused.
We were over the snow in the sensory table so we made some moon sand. 4 cups flour and a 1/2 cup of baby oil and it sticks together nicely for forming castles and breaks up like sand too. Even better is it smells nice. Some got on the carpet (shocker, I know!) and it just added a nice smell to the carpet. Mulan made the moon sand ...
Then they had some fun
Now on hour 5 billion, I busted out the guitar. We are over the snow people. It was a fun 4.5 days but we were ready to get out of that house!
