Fellowship Celebration

The end of fellowship is almost here. We were invited to the resident dinner where everyone was presented with awards and certificates. The fellows are also celebrated at this dinner, so Nick's fellowship coordinator got up and presented Nick. I am so sorry that the end was cut off. Jay finished by saying that "everyone thinks Nick is awesome and we are so glad he is staying on with us at OHSU." It was a wonderful night. :)

The next weekend was the less formal and a lot funnier pediatric fellowship celebration (and roast). We had an absolutely wonderful time and everyone did a great job roasting Nick. The general themes were that Nick drinks a lot of Coke Zero, he enjoys sweet food, he has many levels of anger (en fuego or purple were the two highest) and that he is an all around great guy. It was really really wonderful and just solidified how glad we are that we chose to stay at OHSU. We have found a wonderful group here in Portland.

Nick and Marilyn and Mubeen (photo bombing in the back) - both are two of Nick's new partners

Nick got his "Big Boy" pants (Liz and Margo are in the back - two more partners)

They say bad down the crack ... bad ass :) Nick didn't know they said anything and when I asked him to turn around so I could get a picture of the back he started looking for what was on the butt - that is why everyone is cracking up in the background.

So ... for many many years now, Nick has wanted an Assassins Creed coat as his doctor coat (it is a video game). He has always been told no. Well ... that is what new partners are for! Marilyn found Nick's coat for him as one of his gifts. She has no idea how happy he is.

Ken, the chief of pediatric surgery, is a military guy and loves his bow ties. He presented Nick with an Oregon bow tie ... and even tied it for him. :)

Here he is - all dolled up in all his gift

He is official now
Nick gave a wonderful speech - still dressed like this.

He bought each of his partners their own funny phrase shirt (Nick has a bunch). They all loved their shirts. So cute! What a great bunch!!

Thanks for a wonderful night!!!!
