Washington DC Trip

We were so excited to go to Washington DC to see everyone! Evelyn started packing a little early. Here she is ready for the trip ... Arial high heels and all.

The girls did a nice job on the flight again. Nana met us at the airport and helped us navigate the subway system. Maddy was fascinated by the fact that we were under the street. Evelyn fought hard, but the rocking of the train and her Nana's lap made her doze off a bit. It was really cute to watch her. :) We got back to our hotel, had a quick dinner and went to bed.

Amy, Manish, Alec and Peter all drove in from NYC. We went and played at a park with an amazing water area. The kids had SO much fun! They were so cute playing together!!

We all got cleaned up and came back to Alice's house for some pizza and fun all together! Here is Nana with all her grandchildren (FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!). This is a perfect picture of them all if you ask me! So cute!

The next morning we walked a few doors down to Amy and the boys' hotel room. They hung out together while we got ready to go to the Air and Space Museum.

It was a super hot afternoon so we all went swimming at our hotel. Too much fun!

The next day we headed back over to Alice's house to take some family photos. We have not all been together EVER so we needed some cute photos. Here are the daddies and all their babies.

Maddy and Manish were worn out after all those photos.

We were going to go to the park and walk around that day but we all decided it was WAY too hot and humid! We decided some cold drinks at the pool would be a better idea ... and boy was it ever! We all hopped in together and had so much fun. Everyone washed up after the pool and the kids relaxed with a little TV time. :) I love this photo of the zombie children.

That night the New Yorkers drove home and we went back for an early night too. We had been busy!

Then next day we woke up and took the subway into the center of DC to see the White House and the Mall. Maddy was my hero that day. We walked about 7 or 8 miles (mapped by Nick's phone app) and she did not complain ... and it was a billion degrees. I was SO super proud of her!!!

We found our old digital camera and gave it to Maddy to take photos. Here are some of her shots.
The Washington Monument

Not sure what the statue is but the Eisenhower building is in the background.

The president of Nigeria (President Buhari) was visiting the White House so the front was closed off. We were able to walk around the back and see it from the other side. I think it is really beautiful from this side!

Getting closer to the Washington Monument

Made it!

The Lincoln Memorial in the background and the reflecting pool

We climbed all 4 score and 7 (87 - thanks Nick for that trivia!) steps and made it to see President Lincoln. Can you tell we were hot?!

Grandpa B's grandson and great granddaughters in front of the Vietnam Memorial. We talked about how brave Grandpa B and all the other soldiers were. It is a beautiful monument.

On our way back home we walked by the White House entrance and were stopped by the secret service. We were waiting for someone to come by. They would not tell us who ... it was a secret they said. :) So here is a picture of a black SUV with maybe someone important in it.

We got back home in time to change and get ready for our flight. The girls did a nice job on the way home too. The girls must have been on East Coast time still because we had not even finished unpacking the car and Maddy was fast asleep in bed. Even Evelyn went to sleep pretty easily! Let's hope they don't wake up too early!!

Thanks for a wonderful trip Katie, Nana and Aaron! We had such a great time!!
