Birthday Party #1

Maddie's first birthday party was in St. Louis. Linda (new name from Maddie: "Zsa Zsa") came in a day early and we went for pizza. Maddie decided she was a little pizza and turned the pizza stand into a chair.

Momma woke up early that morning and started cutting out and decorating the cakes. I may have gone a little over the top. The first cake I tried (as a tester a few days earlier) ended up looking like this:

So, I may have gone a little nuts trying to make a good cake and ended up with this! (for scale, the green cake the 2 is sitting on is a 13x9 inch pan ... oh, and it is a double layer of cake under the 2). It was too much. Once I got started, though, I could not stop.




That afternoon, everyone came over to celebrate Maddie.

It was a BEAUTIFUL day outside. Maddie had fun hanging out in the back yard.We sang happy birthday and Maddie tucked into a one of the ladybugs.


Then we hung out for a little while.
And then came the gifts!








We took a family photo together outside the house. Maddie is so lucky to have so many people who love her ... and this is just the Missouri half!

We set up Maddie's new picnic table ... which she LOVES. It is too cute! It has its own umbrella.





And blew some bubbles with Malory.

Here is a little video of parts of the day. Maddie learned how to blow out candles. She got a little shy with everyone watching her, but she did it!

It was a wonderful birthday party. It was so fun having everyone with us. Thank you for everything. It was a fantastic day!
