First Day of School ... Again

Today was Maddie's first day in the 2's turning 3 room (she is in "Jungle Birds"). We went and bought a new dress and shoes (although Daddy did think it was silly to get a "first day of school" outfit when her last day of school was Friday ... and she only moved 3 doors down ... but to me it was her "first day of school" so she needed a new outfit!). She looked so beautiful and was really excited to show off her new shoes.

I woke her up in the morning by crying over her. Seriously. I said, "Where has my baby gone?" and broke down into tears. She was a little confused and then a little embarrassed. I informed her on the way to school that this was going to happen every year and that it is probably best that she just accept it.

Here are a "few" shots I took this morning. Just a few ...

(could she look more like Nick in this photo ... "seriously? more photos?")

Maddie has taken to a blue bag I use to bring small things to and from my classroom. She will not give it up. It is ugly and boring but she loves it. It was actually a free bag from Target from our wedding registry. Anyway, yes, to all the fashionable members of the family, I did try and get her to choose a different bag this morning but she just kept saying "blue bag" so I had to give in. She loaded it up with Mrs. Flat Lamb, a baby doll, clothes for the baby, a single crock, and, of course, a "guy" (binki).

(Last year at this time she was off to school for the first time. Our little baby ...)
We arrived at school with our blue bag and she found her classroom.
We found her hook and she began her day ...

... in her new room.

This afternoon, her teacher said she had a wonderful day. I have a sinking feeling that college is going to creep up on me faster than I would like.

Enjoyed very much all the daring photos of sweet Maddie in her new school dress. Looks like a fun 2 yr old classroom. Have another great year Melissa with your 1st graders.
