An Update Before the Christmas Madness Begins!

Starting Wednesday, the Christmas Madness will begin here at Melrose Manor. I thought I would get one last post in before we began! I am excited!

Maddie has been watching me get our Christmas cards ready to send. She sees me write on the envelopes, put our address sticker on it and move onto the next one. I let her help me put on the address stickers one day and the stamps another. She really enjoyed helping. She must have asked me what I was doing and I must have told her I was working. Well, Madeliene decided that it looked important, so she sat down to work, too. She sits herself down at her "bue table" and works. I have one of those cubes of paper (you know ... it is a stack of a million square pieces of paper) on the table. She grabbed it and started "working." She writes something on the top piece, sticks a sticker on it, tears it off, puts it in her pile of work and continues the process again and again. When I ask her what she is doing, she says, "my working, mommy." She will "work" for 30 minutes straight at times ... seriously! Little workaholic. We are hoping this will one day transfer into school work and studying!

On Thursday, I had a "snow day" (it was actually an ice day). We let Daddy take my car, so we were inside all day, which was fine with me! Maddie and I played and cleaned and had a nice time together. I even took a two hour nap! Maddie sat reading "my mah-zeen" (magazine) for much of the day. She loves looking through the toys and saying what she wants. It is always a baby or something pink!

So, after wearing her "kitty cat princess" outfit (that is what she calls it) on the snow day, she wanted to wear it to school the next day. Very cute. Thank you Zsa Zsa!

Nick's schedule has been better this year than last and he is usually home for dinner and almost always home for bedtime. He and Maddie have a new bedtime routine - put on your PJs and hop into Daddy's bed for a little snuggle time. One night, Maddie did not want to leave an go into her own bed. She pretended to be asleep, closing her eyes and snoring. Very funny! In this photo, Maddie is pretending to be asleep and I think Nick is actually almost asleep. I love this photo ... my two most favorite people in the world all cute and snuggly. I love them so much!
