It is that time of year again! Maddie is turning 6 years old! Her actual birthday is on Easter this year, so we decided to have her birthday party with her friends a little early. Maddie put together the goodie bags for everyone. She likes organization and so she developed a system. It was super cute.
The day finally arrived and Maddie and all her friends had so much fun at Pump It Up! They jumped and played and screamed and had so much fun!
Evelyn got right in the action too!
Everyone sang Happy Birthday ... Maddie was, of course, shy. :)
Then it was time to open the gifts!
For her actual birthday (and Easter), ZsaZsa, PopPop, Suze, Summer, Andrew, Caroline and Campbell all came to Portland! How special!! We had so much fun. We opened a nail salon at our house as well. Just an FYI.
Maddie got ready for school the Friday before her birthday. ZsaZsa had made her a very special shirt to go with a super cute skirt!
The mural at Maddie's school.
That day, Evelyn, ZsaZsa and I went over to Caroline's hotel room to have a little fun. The cousins loved playing together!
That afternoon, I brought cookies to Maddie's classroom for her birthday celebration. They do something called a candle pass. Each person holds the candle (with a fake flame, of course) and as they hold it, they make a birthday wish for the birthday kid. It is very sweet.
Maddie and her friends loved the cookies and Maddie loved celebrating with her friends.
I took a picture of Maddie's name tag because it was so sweet. They can decorate it any way they want. Maddie's says "mommy, daddy and Evelyn love me." Too cute.
The next day (Saturday), was the day we were going to celebrate Maddie's birthday at home (Sunday was her actual birthday but we didn't think she should share it with Easter so we celebrated a day early). Maddie and Caroline made some painted cookies. First they had to cut out the shapes.
Then came the real fun ... paining! ZsaZsa and Suze also got in on the painting. These cookies are so much fun to make!
While they baked, we opened "a few" presents. Wow.
Evelyn managed to find the LAST Frozen item at Target. It was perfect though. It was a trunk with two dresses (Elsa and Anna) and accessories.
Maddie may be a little big for the outfit but oh well! She still loved it! (I love Caroline in the background. She was in love with Maddie. She watched her and wanted to be with her all the time. It was too sweet.)
Maddie's Frozen cake. It was supposed to have the figures on top but there was seriously NOTHING in the stores. I went everywhere. Instead I just made a meringue snowflake.
... and cake balls of course!
We were all watching Frozen but in the end it was just the three boys on the sofa. It is amazing they were able to find the sofa. Look at that house!
All the girls were playing instead.
Pause for a little Frozen.
Anna and Elsa. :)
Finally it was time to eat and sing and blow out candles!
After we all ate TOO MUCH, it was time for a stroll along the river.
The next day was Easter and Maddie's actual birthday. The Easter Bunny filled the table and left a special Easter birthday present for Maddie (a large chocolate bunny).
Evelyn was SUPER excited to go through her basket.
Our sweet bunnies.

Evelyn decided she was a baby again.
For some reason, I decided that it was time to cut Evelyn's hair. Don't ask me why I picked today but I did. It was just getting very scraggly in the back so I evened it out.
It is a little short but she can pull off the bob.
Daddy made birthday pancakes for Maddie. We sang happy birthday and she wore her Elsa dress. :)
Then it was time for an Easter Egg Hunt! The Easter Bunny must have seen how full my house was and decided we would never find the eggs in that mess so he left them at Caroline's hotel instead! The girls had so much fun! Maddie found the egg with the money in it too! Way to go Easter Bunny! :)
We tried to take some family photos. Here are some of my favorites.
(Once Evelyn realized the eggs had candy in them, it was all over. This is her with jelly beans in her mouth and hands.)
After the kids were all sugared up, we went out to Cannon Beach with everyone. It was pretty chilly that day, but the beach is always beautiful! Summer wrapped Campbell up and she fell asleep.
Evelyn of course went right in the water and I ran out of clothes for her so she just wore her towel and a hat.
I found another set of clothes and changed her into them knowing she would go home sandy. Better than cold.
Summer brought Maddie a kite. It was the first time she had ever flown a kite I think. She LOVED it!
Three cousins on the beach ... covered in sand and worn out!
We took our hobo baby home with us.
We had a wonderful weekend and a very happy birthday for Maddie. Happy birthday Maddie!
We love you!!
