When I went to school today, Maddie's teacher told me a little story she knew the teacher in me would love.
It is hard to have a teacher parent, I am sure. I see Maddie, not only as my sweet baby, but also as a child on a developmental continuum. As she meets new milestones, I am always excited. I try and push her developmentally and am really pretty annoying, I am sure!
I was doing the laundry a few months ago, and had all the socks set to the side to sort and fold. Maddie asked if she could help, so I ... being a teacher now and not a mom ... said she could sort the socks. I set out a few options and we worked on same and different. She caught on pretty quickly and that is now her job each week. It is a fun task for her and is also good for her brain development.
So ... now back to the story ... I went to pick her up and her teacher told me a little story. She said that they were working with them on a sorting game. They had to put a heart shape on top of its matching heart (based on size only, I think). Her teacher said that Maddie was really fast and accurate at this game. I think she told me because I am a teacher ... I was really excited! I was very proud of my baby ... and her developmental milestone! :)
