Nana came in for a visit with her Maddie for her birthday weekend. We picked her up at the airport (one of Maddie's most favorite places) and Maddie got to work. Nana was turned into a Princess in no time (Maddie is a make over pro at this point).

She also had her hair done to Madeleine's satisfaction.

We had a nice night and went to bed early (no nap that day ... official Princess business and all). Maddie woke up and had a little "snuggle-buggle" with Nana in her warm bed. They were both in heaven.

That afternoon, we went to the Magic House (St. Louis' Children's Museum). We had a lot of fun.

We played the bells ...

Maddie loved the colorful blocks ...

Had a lot of fun playing with the big ramp ...

and LOVED the doll house ...

She climbed in a tunnel and played peek-a-boo...

She dug around in the sparkle sand ...

And did A LOT of driving (she loved the car) ...

ah ... we can only dream ... remember those days? Good times ...

Maddie did not like the water area ... too many boys running around ...

but she did love the balance beam ...

She and Nan played with the texture doors ...

But then we found a mouse house. Maddie looked in the mouse house for about 15 minutes ... really ... she just laid there looking in the hole ...

Nana joined her ...

Then we went fishing. Maddie caught 2 fish

and sent them down the river back into the lake.

Maddie's most favorite part, however, was the supermarket. She went nuts!

She had her own shopping basket

and then checked out and paid with her credit card

then helped put everything back. What a good girl!

We measured Maddie ... 1 meter tall.

We did one last round and then headed home.

The next day, we went with Nana to the butterfly house. Maddie was really excited ... but did not really like the butterflies. She wanted to look at them but not get too close. She liked looking at all the insects in the glass boxes.

Maddie would not smile ... she was too concerned with the butterflies ...

A butterfly landed on Nana ... Maddie did not like that.

We did, however, go shopping at the end. Maddie found the girl area and went nuts! She chose a butterfly diary and asked Nan if she would buy it for her. How could Nana resist?

That afternoon (after a non-nap), Maddie gave Nana her birthday card.

We got Nana's birthday cupcakes ready and sang happy birthday

and then they blew out the candles together

Maddie then licked those candles ... she is learning fast!

They shared a little cupcake ... they were delicious!

Maddie decided one piece was not enough and started to dig into another (mommy stopped her)

but she got a little icing!

They both tucked in a little bit ...

Then the did a little coloring before Nana left.

Then there was this ...

It was wonderful having Nana come visit us. We loved celebrating her birthday with her. Happy birthday Nana!
