We were so excited to hear that a swimming pool was going to open up in Amy's neighborhood today. We went for opening day and it was GREAT! They had cupcakes and lots and LOTS of news reporters.
We found a nice spot under some umbrellas on the beach area (complete with white sand and all!) and got ready for a swim. While we were sitting, the New York Times and the NY Post came up and interviewed us. It was pretty cool!
Chillin' with her cousie.
Our view made me laugh ... that is the highway (the BQE) ... just above the beach area. Very NYC.
Fun in the sand.
Maddie and Alec LOVED swimming together. Because the pool is made specifically for kids, it is only 3ft 6in at the deepest. Maddie loved that she could touch the bottom the whole time and really started her swimming skills. She was so brave and just loved it. I was so proud of her. She even went under a few times!
After a little quiet time and a few showers, we decided to take a ferry across to Manhattan for a little wander on the pier.
Maddie LOVED the ferry. She kept saying, "It's a ferry ... not a fairy."
After a little wandering, we decided it was super hot and we all needed and ice cream. Amy and I got salted caramel truffle (yes - it was as good as it sounds!) and Maddie had strawberry.
Luckily strawberry ice cream goes with everything Maddie wears ... it was everywhere!
