NYC Day 5

We woke up to another beautiful day.  Maddie gave Alec another birthday present.  Today was a book of 100 things that go.  She loved reading to him.  He liked all the things that go.

We decided today was a perfect day to go to Governor's Island.  We hopped on another ferry (Maddie was excited!)

and took a quick boat ride to Governor's Island.

Governor's Island was a military base until recently.  It was fun to wander around and see all the old buildings.  It was a really great place.  Cars are not allowed on the island but people can rent bikes or bring their own.  We just strollered it.  It was great!

We took the tram to the other side of the island and set up a little picnic.

Then Amy busted out a tent.  Well ... Maddie was so excited because she has been wanting to go camping for a while now.  She talks about it all the time.  Nothing like camping with the Statue of Liberty in the background!  Maddie loved playing camp with all of us.

Statue of Liberty - Maddie was excited to see her even closer.  We could see her crown!

In the background, you can see the new tower being built on the World Trade Center site.

We got home and were hot and tired.  Maddie stripped down and we all enjoyed a glass of sparkling lemonade Amy had found at the store - just for Maddie.

It was really delicious!  Maddie loves bubbley drinks!

We had another fun filled day in NYC.  Only one more day left!
